What is Express Scribe?
Express Scribe is a transcription program designed and distributed by NCH Software. The software was developed to help professional transcribers and typists with a program that can provide them with assistance on transcribing audio recordings.
The software actually functions as a transcription player. The player can be controlled via a foot pedal or a keyboard. The user can control playback speed, whether the user is transcribing a simple audio file or a video/audio file. Express Scribe features a utility that enable the user to send the transcribed file straight to the person that recorded the notes or dictation. The transcription player is able to handle the following file formats: MP2, MP3, WAV, WMA, AIFF and VOX.
There are two versions of Express Scribe: Express Scribe Free and Express Scribe Pro. The Express Scribe Free version includes all the features previously mentioned, while the Pro version includes the same features plus the capability to play MSV and DVF files; and video playback for AVI, WMV and MOV files. The Pro version also provides technical support.
Express Scribe Free and Express Scribe Pro are compatible with Windows (Vista, 7 and 8) and Mac OS X (10.3 and up).
