What are XXE files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening an XXE file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your XXE files.
What is an XXE file?
An .XXE file is an XXEncoded file.
Files that contain the .xxe file extension most commonly hold XXencoded Unix files.
The XXencode process takes files and converts them into a text-based file format. These files are commonly used to email documents and prevent the documents from being corrupted during file transfer. The format was invented to transfer files in a format that would survive character set translation, particularly that between ASCII and the EBCDIC encoding used on IBM mainframes.
Once a file has been sent using the XXE file format, the file must be decoded before the recipient can open the original file on his or her device.
