DiffVue is a program used to view and compare files across directories or even machines. Using the software, users can view directories’ contents in a tree form and see where the two directories differ: the program highlights all files and subfolders that do not match across the directories being compared, and is also capable of showing text files’ contents in a side-by-side view with the differences again pointed out. Users can perform their text file editing straight on the program—even Unicode text files are supported. Alternatively, users can choose to merge the differences between text files through the software. Even resource files can be searched and merged.
The program focuses on text file comparison and editing, but it does actually show other file types as well (although these may not be editable through the software). For instance, it is capable of comparing and showing image files as well as presentation files in its comparison window. It can compare files’ hexes and is also capable of serving as a hex file editor.
It is compatible with Windows computers and has been tested on Windows 7 and 8 successfully.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files DiffVue can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
