StarOffice is a suite of Office applications for Windows, Solaris, Linux and Mac OS X machines. The software was also known as Oracle OpenOffice. Applications included in the suite are the following: word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, database and math. The Office suite also includes a macro recorder, which enables developers to reuse source codes; and an SDK (Software Development Kit).
The word processor is known as StarWrite and comes with file extensions .sdw and .sxw; while the spreadsheet application is called StarCalc, with file extensions .sdc and .sxc. The presentation program, which allows the user to create slideshows, is known as StarImpress and it comes with file extensions .sdd and .sxi.
The drawing program is StarDraw, which renders files in .sda and .sxd formats; while the database application is known as StarBase and comes with file extension .sdb. The formula generator is known as StarMath, and has file extensions .smf and .sxm.
File extensions for each program differ, depending on the version of the StarOffice app installed on the computer.
