Opening STD files

Did your computer fail to open a STD file? We explain what STD files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your STD files.

What is a STD file?

The .std file extension is used for a plugin file format that was developed by Adobe Systems, Inc. These STD files may be found in directories of Windows PCs or Mac computers where Adobe Acrobat is installed. Also known as Adobe Acrobat Exchange files, these .std files contain data that is related to the functions of the Adobe Acrobat Exchange applet.

An STD file stores vital information that is related to how Adobe Acrobat Exchange processes and exports PDF (Portable Document Format) files to other document output formats. The Adobe Acrobat Exchange software was created by Adobe Systems, Inc. to allow users to quickly and easily create, edit and export PDF files.

These .std files can be installed in Adobe Acrobat. An STD file is not meant to be opened. It is not recommended to tamper with these .std files, in order to ensure that these Adobe Acrobat plugins can continue to work properly.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
