What is an ODT file?
ODT files have multiple uses, and OpenDocument Text Document is one of them.
OpenDocument Text Document
These files are document files that have been created in the OpenOffice and StarOffice word processing applications. They use the OASIS OpenDocument XML standard, allowing users to use documents across multiple operating systems and applications.
The OpenOffice and StarOffice applications are freeware alternatives to the Microsoft Office Suite. The programs were created to reduce Microsoft's market share and provide the public with a free alternative to the costly Microsoft applications.
