What is a WPD file?

WordPerfect Document

The .wpd extension is most commonly assigned to files that have been created in Corel WordPerfect. WordPerfect is a word processing application that is included with the purchase of the WordPerfect Office suite.

WPD files can contain tables, drawn objects, formatted text, and graphics.

While WordPerfect Document is a popular type of WPD-file, we know of 3 different uses of the .WPD file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.

602Text Document

The .wpd extension is also assigned to documents that have been created with the 602PC Suite. This suite is an alternative to the Microsoft Word suite of office products.

These WPD documents contain text documents that have been created with the 602PC text editor that is included in the 602PC suite.

WPD opener for Windows

We have identified one WPD opener that is compatible with this specific type of WPD file.

WinWorks Text Document

We know that one WPD format is WinWorks Text Document. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
