Classified as an optical disc authoring software, Nero Burning ROM is the centerpiece of the Nero family of products by German-based software company Nero AG (formerly Ahead Software), which has been part of the Nero Multimedia Suite until version 10, where it could be purchased as a stand-alone product. The Nero Burning ROM is available for Windows platforms from Windows XP to present and for Linux, in which case the Nero Burning ROM is simply called “Nero Linux”. Furthermore, there are several variants of the Nero Burning ROM software; one of these is Nero Express, which is the basic and simple version of Nero Burning ROM intended for beginners and those not familiar with the concept of disc burning.
The Nero Burning ROM software can create several types of discs, using various file formats. Examples of its capabilities include the support and creation of data discs, bootable discs, audio CDs, DVD video discs, disk image files, and even Blu-Ray discs. It also supports other features such as audio CD ripping, erasure of rewritable discs, converting audio files to other formats, support for LightScribe and LabelFlash technologies, and even a connection to the web-based music database and library GraceNote.
Our users primarily use Nero Burning ROM to open these file types:
