What is a NCP file?

A .NCP file is a Nikon Custom Picture Control file.

.NCP files are files that contain custom picture controls for Nikon DSLR cameras. Nikon Custom Picture Control is a feature that allows photographers to create and save custom image processing presets for use when shooting photos with their Nikon cameras.

NCP files contain instructions for the camera on how to process an image. These controls adjust sharpness, contrast, saturation and hue levels to produce a desired result. An NCP file can be loaded onto the camera, allowing users to consistently apply these settings across future shots. This enables consistent image processing across different shoots.

The Nikon Custom Picture Control (NCP) files are easily shareable, enabling photographers to exchange their preferred settings with each other. Through the Camera Control Pro software, it is possible to both create and also edit these settings. NCP files can also be imported and exported using this software.

How to open NCP files

Important: Different programs may use files with the NCP file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your NCP file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
