The software features two types of editors: a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor and a code editor. The WYSIWG editor provides the user with development tools for creating Web page layouts. It features a source code generator that enables the developer to work on the HTML components of the Web pages that they are currently developing.
To get a preview of the pages that the user is creating, the software has its own preview window. The user is also able to view the pages through their own Web browser. For code editing, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX also provides the syntax highlighting option, which displays the codes in colors that are specific to their category; thus, allowing for easier code recognition, analysis and editing.
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX is compatible with Windows and Mac OS X units.
