What is a HTC file?
A .HTC file is a HTML Component file.
These files are associated with the Internet Explorer web browser and contain the definitions of components used on an associated Dynamic HTML page. The HTC file is an HTML file that includes elements that define the HTC component, including HTML snippets and VBScript or javascript code. This allowed web developers to isolate parts of a web page into modules.
An HTC file allows an Internet browser to use the same functions across various HTML website pages. These files are stored in a readable plain-text file format.
HTML Components was a proprietary technology used in earlier versions of Internet Explorer. It is deprecated today.
