What is an AS file?

AS stands for Action Script. Files with the .as extension contain source code that has been written in the ActionScript language. ActionScript was developed by Macromedia. The AS files contain variables and functions written in the language as well as references to other associated files. These files are often used to create interactive Flash applications. The AS files are normally saved with an associated FLA file. These files are normally saved in plain text format.
