The PeaZip is a free ZIP files utility which provides a unified, portable cross-platform file and archive manager GUI for several of the Open Source technologies like the FreeArc, UPX, 7-Zip and PAQ. The PeaZip is capable of reading RAR files, however it cannot write them. The PeaZip’s interface is considered to be well-designed, as well as user-friendly, but much care must be taken by the user when this utility is being installed as it has the tendency to install the AVG Security Toolbar and alter the user’s homepage and search functions into AVG Secure Search with the default settings.
However, it is fortunate for the user that he or she is able to choose a custom installation that ignores the add-ons. Once the application is installed, the right mouse button will bring up the traditional Explorer menu with the basic PeaZip capabilities that are added to it. PeaZip’s default settings for most of its operations are considered to be adequate for most of the users. The PeaZip is considered to be a useful addition to any Windows system.
