What is a LHA file?
A .LHA file is a LHA Compressed Archive file.
Files with file extension LHA are compressed archive files. An archive file is several files bundled into a single file for easier distribution. When the archive file is compressed, it means that a compression algorithm has been applied to the data to reduce its size. This is done to save storage space and reduce bandwidth when transferring the files over the internet. To restore the files to their original format, you will need a "decompressor" tool.
Haruyasu Yoshizaki invented this specific archive format and the associated LHA software in the 1980s, and it was very popular in Japan. It was also used by e.g., Id Software to compress data files in their popular games Doom and Quake.
