What are ICL files and how to open them

Are you having problems opening an ICL file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your ICL files.

What is an ICL file?

ICL files have multiple uses, and Icons Library is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

Icons Library

Files that contain the .icl file extension are usually associated with Windows desktop shortcuts. These files contain a collection of icons that can be used to replace the existing icons that are used for shortcuts on the user's computer desktop.

The ICL files themselves do not contain any actual program file data, just icon image files used to create a shortcut for the associated applications. For example, if a user wishes to change the icon of a particular program shortcut on his or her desktop, they can select a different image from within the collection of icons in the ICL file.
