Opening CBR files

Did your computer fail to open a CBR file? We explain what CBR files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your CBR files.

What is a CBR file?

The files that contain the .cbr file extension are CDisplay RAR Archived Comic Book files. The CBR files are also commonly referred to as Comic Book Reader Files. These files are generally saved in the RAR file format, but have been renamed with the .cbr file extension to notate what type of contents the CBR file contains.

CBR files normally contain compressed JPEG, PNG and static GIF images. These images are compiled and are saved to a single compressed file archive. These file archives are often used for storing and displaying digital comic books and other collections of related illustrations.
