What is SMPlayer?
SMPlayer is the front-end cross-platform player for the media player MPlayer. It is the Graphical User Interface for MPlayer where the user can access the various options of the software. The Play tab from the menu opens options for playback speed and displays shortcut keys that can be used for launching Play options such as fast-forward and playback. At the bottom part of the video display window, the user can access the Play options: Play, Pause/Stop, Volume Control, Seek and the option to view the video in full screen mode.
The player supports popular media formats for both audio and video files including mp4, mpeg, mov, avi and mkv. The software also allows the user to play and record videos from YouTube. Settings provided for a particular video are stored so that when the video is played again from the point where it was stopped, it will play with the exact settings that the user configured.
The software is compatible with Windows and Linux systems, and is provided for free under the GNU General Public License.
