What is Aurora?

The Aurora is the name of the pre-beta release of the Mozilla Firefox browser, which is aimed for users and the community to work with the developers in pinpointing bugs and providing them with feedback before the new Firefox is released in Beta (and from then on the final release).

Mozilla Firefox, a freeware, is one of the three browser giants that dominates the industry today, and traditionally second to Internet Explorer since its first roll out in the first decade of the 21st century. Though recently been ousted from this position by Google Chrome in January 2012 (but retained its throne in Germany and Poland, which actually uses Firefox more than any other type of browser – including Internet Explorer), Mozilla Firefox has nevertheless retained its superiority with its features and innovation, partnering with its competitors to improve web standards and pave the way for the new features of browsers. It runs on most major operating systems, such as Windows, MAC OS X, and Linux.

Firefox is an open-source browser using the Gecko layout engine, and has pioneered several new features which has been a standard in modern browsers today. It features tabbed browsing, download manager, live bookmarking, location-aware browsing known as geolocation, private browsing, built-in spell checker and an incremental find feature that finds matching words and letters on the webpage as you type. The most powerful feature of Firefox is that it is fully customizable with skins and themes, and its impressive add-on library boasts enhance and augment Firefox’s capabilities.
