SHTML File
What are SHTML files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a SHTML file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your SHTML files.
What is a SHTML file?
Files that contain the .shtml file extension are most commonly used for HTML server-side include files, also known as SSI files. The SHTML files are placed within HTML pages and these files allow users to create dynamic content without the need for CGI technology.
The SHTML files are written in the HTML language and are inserted into an HTML website. These files are then processed by a Web server before being displayed on a user's Web browser. The server then adds the information in the file “on the fly” when the user is browsing the site that the file is associated with.
