What is ACID Pro?

Acid Pro is a DAW, digital audio workstation, software that provides tools for music production and post-production. The software utilizes the Acid Loops technology, which basically means that sound clips are repeated and transposed in order to create a pitch-perfect song. Through the Acid Loops technology, music producers, both amateurs and professionals alike, can drag and drop associated loop files directly to a track. What happens then is that the added loop will automatically adapt to the tempo or beat of the track, for a smooth transposition into the track even with pitch shifts. This technology enabled music producers to incorporate effects into the tracks, and also create a full orchestra of different pitches and tempos.

The first version of the software, Acid pH1, was developed by Sonic Foundry. Acid Pro is now owned and developed by Sony Creative Software.

Later developments of the software made it compatible with a number of API plugins including VST and VSTi. It is also enabled to work with ASIO or Audio Stream Input/Output; as well as music synthesizers.
