Did your computer fail to open a SFL file? We explain what they are used for and recommend software that we know can open or otherwise handle your .SFL files.

What is a SFL file?

The .sfl file extension is most commonly used by the Sound Forge digital audio editing software by Sony. The SFL files store the region and marker information pertaining to an associated sound file. These files are created automatically by the Sound Forge software when a user makes edits to an associated sound file. The SFL files do not contain any actual audio data, just references for the associated audio file.

The .sfl file extension is also used for PCL4 Ventura printer bitmap font files, SAM data files and AGON game files.

Suggest another file format using extension SFL

While we know of one file format using the .SFL file extension, there may be more. It is widespread that different programs use files with the same file extension for very different types of data. Please let us know if you are aware of a different kind of .SFL file.

These apps are known to open certain types of SFL files. Remember, different programs may use SFL files for different purposes, so you may need to try out a few of them to be able to open your specific file.
