OMA File - opening and understanding
Did your computer fail to open an OMA file? We explain what they are used for and recommend software that we know can open or otherwise handle your .OMA files.
What is an OMA file?
Files that contain the .oma file extension normally store Sony OpenMG music files. These files are saved in Sony's ATRAC file format. A computer user will often rip these files to a CD in order to play them on a CD player or another computer hard drive.
The OMA files that are saved to a user's hard drive may contain DRM copy protection features that prevent the music file from being played on unauthorized devices or computers. This prevents the file from being pirated or used illegally.
The OMA file format was used to distribute music through the Sony CONNECT Music Store up until March of 2008.
