What is a GPS file?
GPS files have multiple uses, and Gifpress Compressed GIF Bitmap is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

How to open GPS files
Important: Different programs may use files with the GPS file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your GPS file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While Gifpress Compressed GIF Bitmap is a popular type of GPS-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .GPS file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
MicroImages GPS Log
We know that one GPS format is MicroImages GPS Log. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
