Did your computer fail to open a FIL file? We explain what they are used for and recommend software that we know can open or otherwise handle your .FIL files.

What is a FIL file?

Files that have been given the .fil file extension are database storage files. These files are used by a number of computer applications including ACL for Windows, dBase, AVG Antivirus and Cardbox. These FIL files contain a list of database objects that have been stored within the database or an associated computer application.

On some occasions, the .fil file extension will also be given to files that have been created by the Zenworks Desktop Management application. These files are application source files that have been created by the Zenworks Desktop Management snAppShot utility.

The Symbian S60 smartphone application also uses the FIL file extension for rile that store Nokia logo images.

Suggest another file format using extension FIL

While we know of one file format using the .FIL file extension, there may be more. It is widespread that different programs use files with the same file extension for very different types of data. Please let us know if you are aware of a different kind of .FIL file.
