What is a CALS file?
A .CALS file is a CALS Raster Image file.
This raster image file format was invented by Continuous Acquisition and Life-cycle Support, formerly known as Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support (CALS), which is a part of the United States Department of Defense.
The format is quite old - it originated in the 1980s and is a black and white image format invented to standardize graphic interchange within the United States military and its contractors.
