Crafty

If you are looking for Crafty, you have come to the right place. We explain what Crafty is and point you to the official download.

What is Crafty?

Ryan Gregg’s Crafty Application (more commonly referred to just as “Crafty”) is an object viewer often used by modders to get previews of modified game
resources. For instance, if a modder wants to check what a modded (typically fan-made), custom environment for the Half-Life game looks like, he can simply
open the file for it on the program, which will render the modded 3D environment as it would appear in the game. It can function as a browser for files as
well as materials, with thumbnail views available for easy file searching, and can also provide a model browsing utility that shows all available models in
the user’s selected directory in a tree on one side of the window (the actual model preview takes up most of the window space).

Some of the files it can open include Half-Life 2 BSP, VMF, MDL and GL files. Several file formats for Half-Life 1 are supported as well. SKP and OBJ
files are compatible with the program, which uses the latter as the native exporting format. There are also several rendering modes available. The
software is also free.
