Aegisub

If you are looking for Aegisub, you have come to the right place. We explain what Aegisub is and point you to the official download.

What is Aegisub?

Aegisub is a program that is used for subtitle creation and modification. It is a cross-platform open source tool that is equipped with functionality to let you build and preview your video subtitles using easy to follow prompts and simplified keys. It can also check whether your subtitles appear correctly and are consistent with the audio. If modifications are needed, then you can simply re-adjust the appearance of the subtitle until you become satisfied with the timing.

It is compatible with ASS format (short for Advanced SubStation Alpha) which also provides other effects you can integrate into the subtitle. This provides more visually appealing subtitles than simple text appearance. The software has also its own spell checker and dictionaries to ensure quality and accuracy. When using this software, the user can customize the hotkeys to be able to use the functionality with ease.

The software has been released in several versions since 1999 to cater to the needs of the users. The most recent version 3.0.2 was released on October 22, 2012. The latest version of the version works recent Operating Systems as well as with Mac OS, BSD, and Linux.
