Opening VPL files

Did your computer fail to open a VPL file? We explain what VPL files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your VPL files.

What is a VPL file?

The VPL file format is used for a data file type that can be created in the Karaoke Player software, which is a Windows program that was developed by VanBasco Software. This file format uses the .vpl file extension, and files in this format are also classified as audio data files.

These .vpl files are also called Karaoke Player playlists. The Karaoke Player software allows users to open and listen to karaoke audio files and MIDI sound files. These karaoke audio files use the .kar file extension, while these MIDI sound files use the .mid file extension.

A VPL file contains directory locations, metadata details and other references for karaoke audio files or MIDI sound files that have been saved in the corresponding Karaoke Player playlist. These .vpl files do not contain the actual karaoke or MIDI files. Users are advised to only open and edit these VPL files using the Karaoke Player software.

Try a universal file viewer

In addition to the products listed above, I would suggest that you try a universal file viewer like Free File Viewer. It can open over 200 different types of files - and very likely yours too! Download Free File Viewer.
