Important: Different programs may use files with the SLD file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your SLD file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

XnView Slideshow Data

XnView Slideshow Data is a text-format slideshow definition created by the image-management software XnView. It is used to save a selection of images together with the slideshow options (order, display timing, transitions, fullscreen/windowed display, and other settings) so that the same slideshow can be loaded or replayed later.

Files with the .SLD extension are written by XnView (Classic and its Slide Show tool) when the user builds a slideshow, picks which pictures to include, arranges their order, and chooses display options. The .SLD does not embed image data; it stores pointers to the image files (paths), and associated options like how long each image shows, whether the slideshow runs fullscreen, and whether image names or other overlays are displayed.

XnView reads .SLD files to reconstruct the slideshow: loading the file list in the stored order and applying the stored settings, so that images are shown as previously specified. Users can open an .SLD via XnView's Slide Show dialog to modify the contents or settings, then save it again.

The file begins with the ASCII header line "#SlideShowSequence" at offset 0, followed by human-readable option and file-path entries. One option name that was changed in version 2.51.6 relates to fullscreen behavior: previously misspelled as "StrechVideo", corrected to "StretchVideo".
