SITX File
What are SITX files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a SITX file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your SITX files.
What is a SITX file?
A .SITX file is a StuffIt X compressed archive file.
Files that contain the .sitx file extension are normally associated with the Smith Micro StuffIt file archive and compression software utility.
Versions 7.0 and later of the StuffIt software program create and save compressed file archives with the .sitx file extension. These file archives allow a user to take a large file or a batch of files and compress them into a smaller compressed archive file to save disk space and make it easier to distribute the files via the Web.
The SITX file format uses a proprietary ATOM compression technology, which allows for higher compression rates than the traditional SIT file format. SITX files may also be encrypted for added file security.
