Quicken Interchange Format
QIF stands for Quicken Interchange Format. Files that contain the .qif file extension are text files that have been created by Quicken financial software. These files store information that pertains to a user's financial accounts in a readable text format.
QIF files are used for transferring information between different Quicken versions and other applications supporting the Quicken Interchange Format. This is useful if you want to switch from Quicken to another financial application or vice versa.
The QIF file format has become outdated and has been largely replaced by the QFX file format.
