What are PRI files and how to open them

What is a PRI file?

PRI files have multiple uses, and Package Resource Index is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

Package Resource Index File

Windows Universal Platform (UWP) apps use the Microsoft Package Resource Index (.PRI) file format to store localised resources. It is a plain text document listing string resources and affiliated data, e.g., culture name and resource ID.

The.PRI file, along with other resource files such as.RESW and.RESJSON, is utilized to provide localized content for UWP apps. This file is created during the build process and it can be manually modified to enhance or change localised assets.

UWP apps can offer localized experiences to users all over the world, no matter the language or region, with the use of.PRI files.

How to open PRI files

Important: Different programs may use files with the PRI file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your PRI file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
