If you are looking for PriMus Free, you have come to the right place. We explain what PriMus Free is and point you to the official download.

What is PriMus Free?

PriMus Free is a sheet music writing utility for the German-speaking market. The program is basically a notation helper for those who want to compose their own music. It has myriad tools for accepting notes from a user. For instance, a user might want to enter his score into the program by hand, specifying each note or chord manually. While the program supports that, it also has MIDI device support that lets it accept notes by simply interpreting the user’s actual played notes in real-time. The MIDI support also includes support for a Live Mixer, a utility that can be used to dynamically set or alter the tempo, volume, and balance of notes in playback. Furthermore, 128 General Midi sounds are accessible through the software.

Users without MIDI keyboards can actually still enter and play back notes on the program using a computer mouse—in fact, everything on the program can be manipulated with a mouse. MIDI files can be imported into the software for easy conversion into musical notation. There is a transpose feature for those who want to convert the key in a particular piece easily too.
