Opening PACK files

Did your computer fail to open a PACK file? We explain what PACK files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your PACK files.

What is a PACK file?

Files that contain the .pack file extension are most commonly used for the Java environment. These files are saved in a compressed file format and contain what are commonly referred to as compressed JAR files.

The PACK files usually contain common Java updates. The files are used when performing updates on a user's computer. These updates are installed automatically, ensuring that a user's system is up to date with the latest version of the software.

The .pack file extension is also used for GLSL pack files. These files are used by the OpenGL Shading Language to store pack file information.
