What are PACKAGE files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a PACKAGE file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your PACKAGE files.
What is a PACKAGE file?
A .PACKAGE file is a Maxis Package file.
These are computer game archives for Maxis / Electronic Arts games. They contain the game's 3D model information, textures, character information, sounds, and other game data.
Some of the games distributed by Electronic Arts that use the .package file format include The Sims and Spore game series.
How to open PACKAGE files
Important: Different programs may use files with the PACKAGE file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your PACKAGE file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
