What are MLS files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a MLS file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your MLS files.
What is a MLS file?
MLS files have multiple uses, and Milestones Simplicity Project is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Milestones Simplicity Project
The .mls file extension is most commonly associated with the Milestones Simplicity schedule software. This application is used for creating schedules in a presentable format. These schedules are frequently used to plan projects and manage deadlines.
The schedules created with the software are saved with the .mls file extension. The MLS files can include text, icons, and other images used to create the schedule presentation.

While Milestones Simplicity Project is a popular type of MLS-file, we know of 3 different uses of the .MLS file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
Netware 4.x Server License
We know that one MLS format is Netware 4.x Server License. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested ten different MLS openers which you will find listed below.
Skype Localization Data
Skype Localization Data files (.MLS) store language and regional user-interface translations used by the Skype application to display menus, messages, labels and other text in different languages. They are produced by Skype to provide localized strings so that users can interact with Skype in their preferred language.
These files are created by Skype itself during installation or updates, or when new language packs are added. Skype reads .MLS files when it starts up or when the user changes the display language, and uses them to substitute UI text. They are not meant for end-users to edit or convert, and they are typically bundled with Skype rather than distributed separately by third-party tools.
MLS files begin with the ASCII signature MLSW at the very start of the file (bytes 4D 4C 53 57 at offset 0). At offset 7 there is another identifying string ".skypePM" (bytes 00 73 6B 79 70 65 50 4D 20).
