What are M4V files and how to open them
Are you having problems opening a M4V file or are you simply curious about its contents? We're here to explain the properties of these files and provide you with software that can open or handle your M4V files.
What is a M4V file?
A .M4V file is an iTunes Video file.
Files with the .m4v file extension are MPEG-4 video files. These files contain digital videos that are downloaded from the Apple iTunes store.
The M4V files that are available from the online store can contain movies, music videos, TV shows, etc.
M4V files are nearly identical to MP4 files, but M4V files can be copy-protected by Apple using their proprietary copy-protection technology. This prevents users from sharing files that they must pay for. The files can only be played on the computer where the purchase was made.
