How to open IT files
Important: Different programs may use files with the IT file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your IT file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested ten different IT openers which you will find listed below.

All known file formats using extension .IT
While IceTracker Module is a popular type of IT-file, we know of 3 different uses of the .IT file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
Impulse Tracker Module
Impulse Tracker Module files (.IT) store music created with Impulse Tracker, a tracker-based composer tool by Jeffrey Lim. These files contain all the pieces needed to recreate a song: the digital sound samples (instruments), sequences of musical patterns (notes, tempos, effects), and configuration settings such as channel count and instrument envelopes. They are not final audio recordings, but editable musical blueprints that let compatible software play, edit, or export the music.
Impulse Tracker itself writes .IT files during composition. A composer loads or records sample data into instruments, arranges those into patterns, sets up effects like volume slides, vibrato, loops or new note actions, then saves the complete work in the .IT format. Later, other software can open the .IT file to see the full composition structure, modify it, or render it into standard audio formats like WAV or MP3.
Technically, every .IT file begins with the ASCII header "IMPM" at offset zero, identifying it as an Impulse Tracker Module.
