What are IFC files and how to open them

What is an IFC file?

IFC files have multiple uses, and IFC-SPF is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

How to open IFC files

Important: Different programs may use files with the IFC file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your IFC file is, you may need to try a few different programs.

While IFC-SPF is a popular type of IFC-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .IFC file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.

ISO-10303-21 STEP-File

We know that one IFC format is ISO-10303-21 STEP-File. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
