What are DIC files and how to open them

What is a DIC file?
DIC files have multiple uses, and ATOK Dictionary is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

How to open DIC files
Important: Different programs may use files with the DIC file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your DIC file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested ten different DIC openers which you will find listed below.

All known file formats using extension .DIC
While ATOK Dictionary is a popular type of DIC-file, we know of 7 different uses of the .DIC file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
DICOM Medical Imaging Bitmap
We know that one DIC format is DICOM Medical Imaging Bitmap. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
DIC opener for Windows
We have identified one DIC opener that is compatible with this specific type of DIC file.

Kingsoft PowerWord Dictionary
Files that contain the .dic file extension are most commonly associated with software dictionary files. These files contain a list of words referenced by various computer applications, including Kingsoft PowerWord, to spell-check user-created documents.
