GLBasic 3D Data File
GLBasic 3D Data File (.DDD) is a binary file format used by GLBasic, a programming language and SDK from Dream Design Entertainment, to store completed three-dimensional model data ready for use in GLBasic projects. These files are created by exporting models from external 3D modeling software (such as MD2 or 3DS formats) and converting them into the native compressed .DDD format using the 3DConvert tool supplied with GLBasic. Files in this format can represent both static meshes and animated objects, with associated texture mappings and vertices.
Once converted to .DDD, the data can be loaded into a GLBasic program via the X_LOADOBJ command, referenced by an object ID, and drawn within a 3D scene using various GLBasic 3D commands. Models saved in .DDD typically include per-vertex information such as position, texture coordinates (UV), and color, enabling GLBasic to display textured and colored 3D objects using its rendering commands.
Files begin with a fixed byte signature, where the first four bytes at offset zero are 0x17 B3 C6 00 in hexadecimal.
