What are 2D files and how to open them

What is a 2D file?
2D files have multiple uses, and Mahalito 2D disk image is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
Mahalito 2D disk image
.2D files pertain to disk image files of the Mahalito 2D Disk Imaging application. The Mahalito 2D is a disk image utility software commonly used in old computers for disk image backup and writing purposes. An image pertains to computer data that include operating systems, drivers, applications, backup files, etc.
The Mahalito 2D Disk Imaging software stored .2D files in small-capacity storage devices like floppy disks.
The PC-9800 series, a line of computers manufactured by the Japanese manufacturer NEC from 1982 to 2000, used the Mahalito 2D disk imaging tool.
How to open 2D files
Important: Different programs may use files with the 2D file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your 2D file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
