If you are looking for Spek, you have come to the right place. We explain what Spek is and point you to the official download.

What is Spek?

Spek is an audio spectrogram. That is, it provides visual representations of audio tracks’ acoustic spectra, which can help users better analyze their audio files. This can be useful for power listeners or track remixers, among others. The program will work with Unix, Mac and Windows computer systems, and is licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. As such, it is free to download as well as install on compatible operating systems. It is also open source, so users can potentially extend it if they have sufficient experience in code-work to do so. The code used for the program is C++.

Just about every one of the existing audio formats in use at present can be opened in the program, so compatibility issues should be by and large rare. Lossless formats such as FLAC will be compatible with the software as well. The program supports multi-thread operation and can open programs through drag and drop. Users can also take their spectrograms and export them for use in other programs, specifically by saving them as images. It can also be installed in any of 19 possible localizations.
