What is Simply Accounting?
Simply Accounting was the old name for a product now known as Sage Accounting. Simply Accounting was a bookkeeping application for business use: it could
log bill payments, invoices, and other types of business transactions to help users manage their businesses’ finances. It had tools for keeping track of
various financial figures for a company, including the cash flow and revenue, as well as the business’s expenses. Country-specific versions were also
preloaded with utilities for calculating state sales taxes.
The program’s strongest area was reports. It could produce more than 100 kinds of reports, from the typical balance sheet to charts of accounts. It also
gave users the ability to keep a list of vendors, inventory, customers and employees. It supported purchase/payment transaction reporting, item
assembly/adjustment transaction logging, customer statement documentation, aged reporting for both vendors and customers, sales/receipt transaction
reporting, and payroll transaction logging. Furthermore, it was capable of generating data graphs, such as ones for account-based revenues and budget vs.
performance figures.
Simply Accounting required Windows XP or Vista to work, and a minimum of 512 MB of memory. It could also integrate with Microsoft Office programs like
Excel and Word.
