Pro/DESKTOP was a program of the Parametric Technology Corporation, which is now PTC Inc. It belonged to the category of drafting software and was capable of outputting both 2D and 3D visuals. One of its most well-known features was the ability to convert a 3D design into a 2D technical drawing for engineering purposes. The program itself was quite famous as well, especially on the educational circuit. This was due to its widespread use as a go-to drafting program for 3D designs. It was also used for instruction in technical drafting in 2D but it had rivals in this area of educational use, whereas it was nearly unrivaled as an educational program for teaching 3D drafting.
The utility provided engineering drawing options for producing designs in keeping with several industry standards, including both inch and millimeter versions of ANSI and ISO. It allowed multiple types of design dimensioning, was capable of generating detailed 3D graphics for presenting designs in full-fledged photo realistic view, offered multiple camera lens options for photo realistic image views, allowed parts lists, and required a mere 64MB of RAM—a low system requirement that contributed to its popularity.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Pro/DESKTOP can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
