What is PhotoScape?
Some say that Adobe Photoshop is overrated and an overkill for mostly day to day tasks of photo retouching or management, and the developers of PhotoScape would agree. PhotoScape is a simple and fun image editing software that has all the basic features of the venerable Photoshop, but without all the bells and whistles of a brand name (and the more advanced tools that only serious graphic designers and those in the profession may need). And it also comes free of charge and can easily be downloaded from the PhotoScape website, unlike its bigger and more expensive cousin; however, one limitation is that PhotoScape only runs on Windows-compatible computers, and the latest versions only from Windows 2000 and higher.
PhotoScape offers similar basic features to Adobe’s Photoshop Elements, but some are PhotoScape-exclusive. PhotoScape offers a Viewer feature which you can use to create slideshows or just view a single image, plus batch editing where you can resize, crop, adjust the colors, contrast and brightness of an image; you can also add speech bubbles and balloons, mosaics, caption, various filters, red eye removal, and several brushes to create pictures or enhance existing ones. It also uses a Face Search feature where you can find a similar face on your image from the Internet.
