The Autodesk Design Review is a companion application released with most Autodesk imaging and design applications, such as AutoCAD, that allows you to view designs and files generated by these applications without having to install the appropriate software themselves. It can be likened to a document viewer and enables an express and convenient way to review (thus the name) designs on a computer without such software, useful for different sectors of a company or firm to approve the designs and output of its designers without being in danger or at risk of accidentally modifying them. The Autodesk Design Review is also completely free, and is an all-digital method of viewing, marking up, tracking changes to and even printing these documents, which can be both in 2D and 3D.
The Autodesk Design Review software is lightweight, and can support Autodesk files such as DWF, DWFx, DWG, and DXF (although the latter requires the installation of the DWG TrueView plugin, which is also free). It also has support for viewing PDF, and image file types such as JPG, BMP, GIF, PCX, PNG, PCT, RLC, TIF/TIFF, TGA, MIL, CAL, among others. It supports all tools in the original design software as pertains to the viewing of these documents, including measurements, viewing options, and mark-up and annotation utilities.
File.org aims to be the go-to resource for file type- and related software information. We spend countless hours researching various file formats and software that can open, convert, create or otherwise work with those files.
If you have additional information about which types of files Autodesk Design Review can process, please do get in touch - we would love hearing from you.
