What is a DWL file?
DWL files have multiple uses, and TurboCAD Drawing Lock is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.
TurboCAD Drawing Lock File
Files that contain the .dwl file extension are most commonly associated with the TurboCAD 2D and 3D design software applications. The DWL files that are used by these programs contain lock files of the TCW files that are being used by the application.
When more than one user access the same TCW drawing, a DWL file is created to prevent the actual file from becoming corrupted or accidentally overwritten. The DWL file allows a user to view a copy of the file but does not allow for editing while the original file is open. The DWL file is automatically deleted once the file has been closed.
