What is Ability Office?
Ability Office is a Microsoft Office alternative from Ability Plus Software. Largely compatible with native Microsoft Office formats such as DOC and DOCX for word processing software, it also offers users the choice to switch from the traditional Ability Office interface in its applications to a ribbon-style Microsoft-like UI. This can make it easier for those weaned on Microsoft Office programs to switch to Ability software.
There are 2 versions of Ability Office available. The cheaper version, simply “Ability Office”, has 3 programs: a word processor, a presentation program and a spreadsheet program (roughly corresponding to Microsoft’s Word, PowerPoint and Excel programs). The other version is dubbed “Ability Office Professional” and includes Write (the word processor), Spreadsheet, Presentation, and the additional programs Database (comparable to Microsoft Access) and Photopaint (comparable to Adobe’s Photoshop software). Like the rest of the programs in the suite, Photopaint supports the main competitor’s native file format, PSD, along with most other image file types. The Ability Office programs are also capable of exporting files in the PDF format for reporting purposes.
All of the programs run on the Windows operating system.
