What are XDR files and how to open them

What is an XDR file?
XDR files have multiple uses, and X-CAD Drawing is one of them. Read more about the other uses further down the page.

How to open XDR files
Important: Different programs may use files with the XDR file extension for different purposes, so unless you are sure which format your XDR file is, you may need to try a few different programs.
While we have not verified the apps ourselves yet, our users have suggested seven different XDR openers which you will find listed below.

All known file formats using extension .XDR
While X-CAD Drawing is a popular type of XDR-file, we know of 2 different uses of the .XDR file extension. Different software may use files with the same extension for different types of data.
XML-Data Reduced
We know that one XDR format is XML-Data Reduced. We have not yet analyzed in detail what these files contain and what they are used for. We're working on it.
